    • Beach hats, buckets and shovels have been replaced with school bags, pencil cases and homework; it’s back to school time! After Teacher Orientation and New Student Orientation, Yew Chung International School of Beijing was ready to welcome back all new and returning cohort of families on Monday, August 19 for the first day of school.

The sunny day saw our youngest group of Early Childhood Education students walk through the school gate, followed by their Primary, and Secondary School schoolmates, some accompanied by their parents and relatives.

This first week was predominantly filled with activities designed to assist students to acclimate to their new environment. New students, accompanied by their buddies, have started to familiarise themselves with their new classrooms, classmates and teachers, while our returning students have enjoyed seeing their old friends again and the refurbished facilities revealed to them for the first time after the holiday. Other activities included the Primary Introduction Evenings for parents and welcome assemblies, for both Primary and Secondary School students.

The first “Learning to Learn” themed activities in Primary and the G100 class of the semester took place already in Lower Secondary School, and our new Intensive English Programme (IEP) also kicked off for Year 10 and 11 students. And, these are just some of the activities that took place this week. What a busy start of the year!
