    Careers and University Guidance Office

Personal guidance and a clear path forward.

Students spend their time at YCIS preparing for the future. From career planning workshops to global university visits, our dedicated guidance counsellors take a personal approach to helping students take their next step. The YCIS Careers and University Guidance Office approaches students and families early in the upper primary years, to explore and define career paths, subjects, skills and qualities needed to make informed choices about universities in senior years. From fulfilling necessary requirements to completing applications processes step-by-step, our counsellors are here to help students reach their goals.

With a firm sense of self, an infectious curiosity, and a keen desire to make the best possible world for themselves and others, our graduates head off to top universities around the world. Our team of Careers and University Guidance Counsellors across the network share a rich centralised pool of resources and insights accumulated through regular university visits, international conferences and best practice exchanges to ensure students always access the latest information and advice.

    • One-to-One Support

To prepare our students for their journey beyond YCIS Beijing, our University Guidance Office (UGO) offers one-to-one college planning support for students and their families. Through this process, students reflect on their personal strengths and aptitudes and explore the university options which will best suit their needs and interests.

    University Guidance Classes

University and career guidance is also interwoven into the curriculum for students in Years 10-13, where our University Guidance Counsellor Abdul Oladipo teaches classes designed to help students to develop their academic skills and passions and learn how to set goals.

    University Representative Visits

Visits by representatives from a wide range of universities and colleges from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Europe, Canada, and elsewhere are arranged throughout the academic year. These give students and their parents an opportunity to speak with overseas university representatives about admission, as well as to learn more about university life and their academic programmes.

    Fairs and Information Sessions

University fairs, information sessions and career days are also organised to help our students better plan for their future. Our overseas university acceptances are impressive year after year as our culturally diverse and diligent students continue to achieve outstanding academic results and co-curricular successes.

YCIS Beijing is an approved College Board PSAT and SAT examinations centre.
