    Beyond the Scoreboard: Sportsmanship Shone in ACAMIS Football

    The vibrant energy of young athletes filled YCIS Beijing as we proudly hosted the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS) Silver Division Football Tournament. This sporting event was a powerful testament to sportsmanship, the unbreakable bonds of teamwork, the dazzling display of skill, and the unifying love for football!

    Our School welcomed nine esteemed international schools and their enthusiastic football squads, creating a dynamic environment brimming with youthful passion and competitive spirit. The positive energy was palpable across the pitches from the first whistle to the last, a clear display of the dedication and hard work of these players, all part of the thriving YCIS Beijing Sports programme.

    Brendan Markey, Athletics Coordinator says, “The ACAMIS U19 Football Silver Division Tournament, was a celebration of everything that school sport should be—competitive, character-building, and deeply community-oriented. With nine schools joining from cities across China, the event reflected the core values of ACAMIS: intercultural understanding, respect, collaboration, and personal growth through shared educational experiences.”

    Our U19 Girls and Boys teams embodied a competitive spirit. The girls competed with heart and resilience, finishing in fifth place after a weekend of steady improvement and teamwork. The boys, who earned third place overall, played with discipline and unity, showing how far they’ve come in both their skill development and their ability to collaborate under pressure.

    “Both teams were praised not just for their performances, but for their attitude, sportsmanship, and the respect they showed to opponents and officials alike,” Brendan Markey said with immense pride in their achievements.

     

    YCIS Beijing firmly believes that the essence of competition extends far beyond the final score and this tournament perfectly embodied that philosophy. While the thrill of victory is undeniable, the true triumphs lay in the unforgettable moments and friendships forged on and off the field, the unwavering commitment to fair play, and the creation of memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime.
