With YCIS Beijing since 2003, April is a solid member of our family with a wealth of experience in bilingual education. Now a Primary Chinese Vice Principal, she has worked in an international education setting for over 18 years, including 12 years as a Curriculum Co-ordinator integrating Chinese and international curriculums.

She has served as an IGCSE (Chinese) and an IB Chinese Language examiner and has a solid foundation in curriculum theory and practice.

Interested in reading and writing since she was a young girl, she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Chinese Literature at Beijing Normal University. She then decided to focus on education and was awarded a Master’s credit in the subject from Beijing Language and Culture University.

April loves music, drama and travel. Encouraged by the motto ‘a man who travels far knows more’, she believes that travel helps broaden horizons. She strongly feels that the purpose of education is to ‘influence other lives’.
