    • Gifts collected by members of the YCIS Beijing Parent Organisation (PO) in the week leading up to Christmas, were successfully delivered to Qingshuihe town in Yunnan.

Parents visited our campus for their annual Christmas Wish Tree Charity initiative in December. They collected backpacks and winter clothes from our students to donate in time for the holiday season.

The distribution was accomplished with the help of the well-known charity organisation Roundabout whose online store pays for medical costs for orphans and others less fortunate and provides sheltered housing for the elderly. Warm blankets, food and gifts, were delivered by volunteers to a “happy and excited” school community, according to Jenny Chu, YCIS Beijing PO Chairperson.

Based on the young students’ reactions during the drop-off, the volunteers could tell this Christmas was indeed going to be a special one.

We would like to express our gratitude to all the students and parents who contributed to this warm exercise in giving. As stated in our school mission, we seek “to raise globally competent and compassionate leaders with a servant’s heart, who aspire to, and act for, a better world.”

The volunteers received a warm welcome from the school in Yunnan, with a large banner that welcomed YCIS Beijing and Roundabout. Click here to watch scenes from the day.
