    • We are delighted to announce that Mr Chris Jarrett will join the YCIS Beijing family as Head of Secondary in the upcoming academic year. His breadth of experience and expertise will drive our program to greater heights and we eagerly anticipate him joining us.

Chris has more than 20 years of teaching and leadership experience in the UK and international schools. After graduating in Applied Mathematics from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, Chris began his education career teaching secondary mathematics in England. Most of this time was spent as head of department where he had experience of teaching both GCSE and A Level maths. Chris then went on to complete his master’s degree in education from the University of Bath, before relocating overseas to accept a position in Qatar as Head of the Secondary school and greatly enjoyed this time leading the school to successful achievements including CIS and IB Diploma Programme accreditations. He then moved to Switzerland where once again he served as Head of Secondary in a growing school near Lausanne. Chris fully embraces cultural diversity and living abroad, so it is no surprise that he moved on teaching IGCSE and IB Maths in Mexico City. Most recently you can find Chris in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he is serving as head of a large mathematics department.

Over the span of many years of teaching in international schools and serving in leadership roles, Chris has a wide and diverse experience with the IB programme and national system in the UK. Chris' career has allowed him to gain a wealth of experience both teaching and leading schools in different cultural settings. He is very excited to have the opportunity to come to Beijing, join our school and align with the YCIS core principles and motto.

Chris is married and a proud father of two sons, one of whom is beginning his career in banking, and the other continuing his studies of Ancient History at Edinburgh University. He will be joined in Beijing by his two cats who have made the journey with him from Mexico.

We look forward to working with Chris in the new academic year to ensure outstanding provision and create a more promising future for YCIS Beijing!
