    • At YCIS, we believe in providing our students with a holistic learning experience that extends beyond textbooks and classrooms. Our aim is to create a purposeful learning environment where our students are motivated and self-driven learners. This includes participating in a variety of competitions across different subjects at local, national, and international levels. We firmly believe that such activities make learning enjoyable while promoting the development of valuable skills such as teamwork and time management, leading to academic success and a sense of great achievement. Join us in celebrating our students’ recent outstanding accomplishments in the Battle of the Books (BOB) and the International Chemistry Quiz (ICQ).

      BOB

      First-Round Results Victory

We are thrilled to announce that two teams of passionate readers from Lower Secondary participated in the first round of the Battle of the Books (BOB), competing against ten teams from other international schools in Beijing. After weeks of preparation, under the committed guidance of the Head of Secondary English, Mr Edward Pay, and Whole-School Librarian, Ms Heather Wright, both YCIS Beijing teams performed exceptionally well, demonstrating their impressive abilities in reading comprehension, communication skills, critical thinking and teamwork.

We are proud to congratulate the team of five Year 8 to Year 10 students, Jaydon Chieng, Sean Chieng, Charles Lin, Daisy Lin and Rachel He, for their outstanding achievement in securing first place in the October round. We eagerly look forward to celebrating more victories with our two highly motivated teams in the upcoming rounds.

      ICQ

      Perfect Score Underpins Chemistry Prowess

Our Secondary students also achieved great success in the International Chemistry Quiz (ICQ) organised by the Royal Australian Chemistry Institute (RACI) last June. We are delighted to announce that YCIS Beijing has been awarded the Outstanding Organisation. The competition attracted over 20 YCIS Beijing Secondary students from Years 8, 9, 10, and 12.

We want to highlight the following students for their outstanding individual academic performance in the ICQ: Jaydon Chieng (Year 9), who scored 90%, earning him a Distinction Award; Sophie Zhou (Year 11), who achieved a score of 93.3% and received a High Distinction Award; and Chan Sum Hok (Year 10), who earned a perfect score of 100%, and was also awarded a lapel alongside the High Distinction Award in recognising his exceptional personal achievements.

To all our incredible students, congratulations on your successful participation in the exciting fields of reading and Chemistry! We are excited to see such remarkable achievements and look forward to more outstanding accomplishments! Keep up your fantastic work!
