The Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS Beijing) celebrated a landmark 25th anniversary and its Founder’s Day on October 9, 2020. With a sports theme, the Honglingjin Campus hosted athletic, musical and academic events as students and teachers joined in to display their skills.The CeremonyWe kicked off the celebrations with a ceremony which included a live stream to students and staff members across the YCYW network in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Qingdao, Guangzhou, Tongxiang, Yantai, Rizhao, Shenzhen and Silicon Valley in the US. During the live stream, campuses sent their greetings and shared what activities were planned for the day.
A display of talent during the concertThat was followed by a concert where a 35-strong choir – drawn from Secondary students – showcased its considerable talent with performances of popular classics such as “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers and “Hey Jude” by The Beatles. The choir was accompanied by the school orchestra.
The concert was concluded with a cake cutting ceremony by members of our school leadership, parent organisation and students which was accompanied by a video of our ECE learners singing “Happy Birthday YCIS Beijing”
Honouring the sports themeStudents participated in various athletic activities on the school’s playgrounds and Honglingjin Park while wearing their 25th anniversary branded house t-shirts.
