Last Saturday, the Yew Chung International School of Beijing’s Under 11 Girls’ and Boys’ Teams took part in the annual International Schools Athletic Conference (ISAC) Football Tournament which took place at BCIS and Dulwich College Beijing, respectively. The competition saw 13 international schools around Beijing gather to compete for top prizes on a perfectly sunny day, where coaches, parents and supporters came out in numbers to support their respective teams. The YCIS Beijing squads went on the field and collected some trophies!
Our girls’ team comprised of true star performers who “only let in one goal from their opponents all day” said Shannon Speight, PE Teacher and Athletics Co-Ordinator.
The girls skillfully played their way into the finals, which resulted in a win against their opponents. The win was a true reflection of the efforts and determination by the team to bringing the award back on home ground in Honglingjin. Congratulations to our U11s and a special mention to Annabelle Payne and Greta Danninger who were the MVPs from the day; their efforts contributed greatly to the overall performance of the team.
Our boys’ U11 team’s clash against a group opponent was a tough but rewarding one. The boys’ grit and team spirit when playing was rewarded when they made the cut to the finals where they won a second-place trophy.
When asked about the teams’ performances, Shannon said “I am so proud of all of our U11 football player because they played with such determination and teamwork, all while having fun at the same time. They have been practicing all season during our CCA time and their hard work really paid off.”
Well done Scorpions on continuing to bring trophies home!
