    It’s been a vibrant and inspiring time for the Arts Department at YCIS Beijing, filled with creativity, collaboration, and unforgettable performances. From prestigious external events to exciting campus preparations, our students continue to shine on every stage.

    Victory at Culturopolis Battle of the Bands

     

    The weekend of 31st Jan and 1st Feb brought us great triumph at Culturopolis, where our teacher band shine on the stage, and student band triumphed in the Battle of the Bands, winning first prize overall! They also receivedindividual awards for Best Drummer, Best Guitarist, and Best StagePresence. A proud moment for our school community!

     

     

    Honoured to Perform at AmCham Event

     

    On 29th Jan, our talented students had the privilege of performing at the annual AmCham China 2026 Annual Appreciation Dinner, attended by China’s Vice Chairman of CPPCC Mr. Wang Yong, US Ambassador to China Mr. David Perdue and over 400 leaders from both the US and Chinese governments and business sectors. This prestigious invitation reflects the outstanding quality of our performing arts programme, and our students represented YCIS with remarkable confidence and professionalism. 

     

     

    Gearing Up for the "Seeds of Hope" Concert

     

    Back on campus, preparations are in full swing for the upcoming Seeds of Hope concert on 7th March. With over 170 YCIS students involved, our orchestra, combined choir, Mulan performers, Primary choir, and Primary violin group are rehearsing passionately for this grand collaboration. Recent preview performances during the Secondary Awards Ceremony and for Upper Primary students have provided valuable stage experience and built confidence ahead of the big night.

    Drama Department: Creating and Celebrating

     

    Performing Arts is more than music. In Drama, following the success of Mulan, we are thrilled to announce that our original production has been invited to the Melbourne Fringe Festival in Australia this October—a true testament to the creativity and dedication of our students and teachers.

    Back in January, our IGCSE Drama students impressed at The Secrets We Keep Drama Festival in Tongxiang, earning high praise for their collaboration, talent, and professionalism.

    What’s Next?

     

    • Theatre Accelerator Academy launches after Chinese New Year, nurturing passionate drama students every Wednesday after school.
    • Our second annual Shakespeare Festival in April will feature a special guest actor with Broadway, West End, and Royal Shakespeare Company experience.
    • Mulan returns at the Seeds of Hope Festival with a spectacular medley performed by 40 students, a 90-piece orchestra, and a 60-strong choir.
    • Year 7–9 students are busy creating short films for our Film Festival in May.
