    • As our Year 12s and IB students are on their pathway to university, they have already achieved a significant milestone: completing the IGCSE two-year course in Year 10 and Year 11. Last Friday, these students gathered with their parents, teachers, department heads and co-principals in the auditorium to be celebrated and receive their IGCSE awards – something this cohort truly deserved in terms of perseverance and academic excellence!

We are proud to announce that 95% of the students receiving the Cambridge International Certificate in Education (ICE) passed with a distinction or merit, whereas more than three-quarters of the student’s cohort achieved A* and A grades throughout. Within this category, we would like to highlight our top performers: Helena Kim, Charlie Leung, and Kerry Wang.

A special mention also goes to two YCIS Beijing candidates who were awarded the external Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards in the June 2022 series. ‘Top in Country’ was awarded to Andrew Zhou for ‘International Mathematics’, gaining the highest standard mark in the country for this subject. ‘High Achievement’ was awarded to Anna Westerholt for achieving outstanding results in the subject ‘Enterprise’. Anna Westerholt was also recognised by our school with the Madam Chang Tsor-Hang Award and was further highlighted alongside Sara Fernandez for sparing no effort in community service projects in support of the MCF (Migrant Children Foundation). Haram Park received the school’s ‘Personal Progress’ award, recognising his continuous improvement in skills, knowledge and personal qualities.

In the IGCSE ceremony, two of the certificate winners, Charlie Leung and Alice Su, performed a meaningful song together as it was the first song they performed together back in Year 7.

Ms Carey Friia, our IGCSE Co-ordinator is exceptionally proud of this year’s graduation cohort, “I am thankful we are all able to take a moment and pause to celebrate this milestone. It’s amazing to see how far the students have come and all they have achieved. Although it was like a roller coaster ride during exams – switching mid-way to ‘portfolio of evidence’, the students persevered. They demonstrated their ability to overcome challenges and achieve high levels of excellence”.

Congratulations to all our hard-working students on their achievements, and a heartfelt thank you to their parents and teachers for their continuous support. We look forward to continuing our fruitful learning journey within the IB programme together.
