    • On January 16, Yew Chung International School of Beijing’s (YCIS Beijing) U14 Boys Volleyball team competed in a divisional ISAC tournament with five other schools from around the conference. The boys competed hard throughout the day with a short-handed squad of just six athletes, the minimum required to field a full team. Despite this handicap, they managed to beat out the majority of the competition and make it all the way to the finals of the tournament.

The tournament was tightly contested, with the YCIS Beijing boys taking a final set win over Harrow International School Beijing in the round-robin quarterfinals to earn a spot in the final two against Beijing City International School. The teams were so evenly matched that the result was decided in a tie-breaking set, which ended up narrowly going against our boys 12-15.

Despite the heartbreaking end to the tournament, the boys had much to be proud of, including competing in an entire grueling day of matches without any opportunity to sub out. This was in no small part thanks to the loud cheering section of YCIS Beijing parents and staff who turned out to support the team!

We wish the Scorpions good luck in their upcoming games!
