    • The 2015 – 2016 academic year at Yew Chung International School of Beijing was jam-packed with exciting events that were the talk of the Beijing community. Musicals, the Temple Fair, Spirit Week, Global Community Day, and our 20th Anniversary! In this week’s YCIS Beijing Rewind, we invite you to join us as we look back at some of the most memorable events that made this last year so special.

      Back to the 80’s

Performing to a sold-out audience, YCIS Beijing drama students put on an unforgettable performance that had everyone singing along to the greatest pop hits of the 80’s. Head of Drama Daniel Pearton said of our students’ fantastic production: “The show itself was a huge success and highlighted the commitment and motivation of our students to make the show what it was. From the high energy dance routines to Jerry Cha performing as “Corey Jr.” belting out “Glory of Love”, the show kept the audience engaged and entertained from beginning to end.” Be sure to visit our flicker page to see our young stars in action!

House Colours Fly during Spirit Week

During the final week of the 2015 – 2016 academic year, students from all Primary School year levels donned their house colours and competed against each other to compete for the coveted prize of Most Spirited House! It was a week of celebration, congratulating each and every student not only on their commitment to their studies but also their personal growth and transformation during the academic year. Follow the link to see highlights from the week.

Coming Together for Global Community Day

A little rain couldn’t dampen spirits during YCIS Beijing’s 8th annual Global Community Day! A myriad of international delicacies, stand out performances, and a wide variety of fun activities saw the greater community come together to embrace different cultures and the diverse student body of YCIS Beijing. This year also saw a newcomer to this special day in the form of the highly successful student organised YCIS Beijing Fun(d) Run. Teachers and students of all ages took part in the marathon event to raise money for charity. Check out the Flickr album to see photos from this special occasion.

Celebrating 20 Wonderful Years in Beijing

Last but not least, 2015 – 2016 marked the 20th anniversary of YCIS Beijing, celebrated during our annual Founder’s Day event on October 9. The historic event saw the whole school reflect on YCIS Beijing’s humble beginnings in 1995 to become the best international school in Beijing. Performances, games, and a memorable speech by YCIS Beijing’s director Dr. Betty Chan, the event was most definitely one to remember. To see more photos of Beijing’s 20th Anniversary, click here!

The 2015 – 2016 year was so full of unforgettable events that these highlights don’t even begin to scratch the surface. We can’t wait to create new memories with all of you in the coming school year! We’ll see you on August 22nd!
