    • Welcome all to the new school year! The first week has come and gone and the campus has been buzzing with activity and new faces.

200 new students join the family

This year has seen a record 200 new students join the school. Our new Western Co-Principal Dr Timothy Gray commented that our enrolment this year reflects “the growing need for an international education that prepares students for the 21st century, and, through our Learning Communities, future work environments.” In addition, YCIS Beijing has continued to uphold its reputation for academic excellence in its IBDP and IGCSE results. Once again, every student has achieved great pass marks and some have even topped the tables in their subjects.

      Learning Community renovations

We are nearing completion with our Learning Community renovations in ECE and Year 1.  The changes that have taken place reflect our belief in the Learning Community model of open plan spaces, state-of-the-art equipment, areas to facilitate different types of learning and collaborative teaching. Now the construction work has been finished, air quality testing is taking place and furniture and equipment will be moved in over the coming weeks.

      Changes in leadership

The summer has seen some changes in our leadership teams too. Ms Christine Xu stays on as our Chinese Co-Principal, now partnered by Dr Timothy Gray as our Western Co-Principal. The role of Business Manager has been taken on by Ms Fanny Du, who has had many years’ experience in hospitality. Ms Farah Sun has been appointed Secondary Vice-Principal and Mr James Sweeney Primary Vice-Principal. Mrs Maryanne Harper continues to lead ECE as Early Childhood Director.

      Welcome BBQ

For a chance to meet all our staff and get to know your child’s friends and their families, please join the annual Welcome BBQ on Friday 14th September at 17:30. There will be food, drinks and activities and it’s a very enjoyable way to start the year.

We wish everyone a very happy year ahead!
