  • YCIS Beijing Film Festival: Subduing Stigma through Film

    Although the Yew Chung International School of Beijing’s 2017 Film Festival is already behind us, students are still talking about a number of the award-winning films showcased during the event. One of the most memorable and discussion-provoking pieces was the film “Colour,” a music video with a deeper message devoted to dispelling stigmas surrounding and provoking conversation about homosexuality and the LGBTQ+ community.

  • 30 Hour Famine: Go Hungry to Help Disabled Kids

    A staple of YCIS Beijing’s Upper Secondary School service-based activity is the annual 30 Hour Famine, an opportunity for students to raise money for a worthwhile cause in accordance with their CAS requirements as well as personally experience the challenges that millions of people face on a day-to-day basis. Year 13 student and head event organizer Lily Sandifer-Stech spoke on the purpose of the event and what she learned through the planning process.

    The Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS Beijing) held its first annual Coffee House Poetry Slam event last week. Students from Years 7-10 showed off their literary chops with dynamic performances of self-written poetry in front of their peers. This edition of Student Blogs showcases the poetry of one of our Year 7 students, Aoife Savage. She speaks about the inspiration behind her poem and how the project has given her a greater appreciation of poetry and the writing process.
