Enrichment through Kick Boxing
There is often the preconception that those who train in martial arts do so to learn how to fight, when in reality the largest majority do so for its unique and highly effective health benefits. During YCIS Beijing’s IGCSE Enrichment Programme, which took place over the last two weeks of June, students were given the special opportunity to learn the art of kickboxing from professional trainers from Uppercut Studios. The goals of these kickboxing classes were explained by Secondary Teachers and Kickboxing ASA teachers Adrian Oak and Bradley Locke.

Year 3 Learning Community: The New Face of Education
We are delighted to announce the major renovation in the coming weeks of the 2nd floor of A Building. Once completed, this space will house our Year 3 Learning Community. The design of the learning spaces themselves has been a significant project with our teachers and school leaders collaborating with the architects at FNI, a renowned American firm in the field of educational facility design who also designed our lovely ECE Centre.

Year 6 Graduation: Saying Goodbye to Primary School
On Thursday June 16, YCIS Beijing hosted our Year 6 graduation ceremony. Parents, teachers and students were so proud of everything that they have accomplished this year. The numerous highlights for this year’s Year 6 students include winning the annual spelling bee against lower secondary, performing in the school musical, deepening their knowledge of Chinese culture through various workshops, creating Rube Goldberg machines during science week and maintaining an excellence in general academic achievement. Spirit Week Soars over YCIS Beijing’s Houses
From June 13 to 17, as a way to relieve the pressure of exams and enjoy the final days of this academic year, YCIS Beijing celebrated its annual Spirit Week. Each day throughout the week focused on a different and fun theme based around school character traits and exemplified by the Primary School House symbols. The YCIS Beijing House system is designed to give students a sense of belonging and commitment. The Houses systems offers positive competition and a chance to embrace healthy sportsmanship. The highlight of the week was House Spirit Day, an action-packed event filled with exciting games and inter-house sporting competitions.
Embracing Chinese Culture through Traditional Folk Art
Culture is a culmination of environment, history, tradition, and language. For one to truly comprehend the culture of another country, it’s vital to must immerse oneself within all aspects of said culture. YCIS Beijing’s Chinese Language and Culture Programme aims to expose our students to all facets of Chinese culture. During this week’s interactive China studies class, traditional Chinese folk art was used as the medium for understanding Chinese culture.
