YCIS BJ 25th Anniversary Celebrations This year marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Yew Chung International School of Beijing. Exciting events and activities are planned for our school community to celebrate this landmark event following Founder’s Day on Friday 9 October at our Honglingjin campus. Since its establishment, our school has evolved significantly but at its core, our values have remained unchanged.

When the Parco children – Thomas (Y12), Vera (Y12), Nicolas (Y7) and Mia (Y2) – finally arrived in Beijing after a four-month lockdown in Manila, they were thrilled. An offer to Gerry (Gerardo) to join the AIIB team in Beijing and a nod from his wife Sandy, a retired dentist, set the family’s China journey in motion.

Reflecting on the First Day of School
It has been a week now since 1 September when our campus opened its doors to the first batch of students who were permitted to attend classes on campus. Learning spaces and playgrounds came alive once again as students and teachers alike restarted activities.

After a cancelled move in March, an agonising wait for new dates and then a 14-day hotel quarantine, the Cortes family (Marcia, Alberto and their five-year-old son Tom) from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, have spent two months finally settling into Beijing.
