The Role of the PO in Our Community
Our School’s success is dependent on the contributions of several members of our Yew Chung International School of Beijing community, particularly our Parent Organization (PO), a volunteer group of parents whose children are currently enrolled in the school. Their role at our school is an invaluable one, because they take part in and organise some of the most popular and impactful events in our school’s calendar, creating a great sense of community.
Our 2019 Welcome BBQ Round-Up
Last week Friday, our community came together to celebrate the start of the new school year at YCIS Beijing’s Annual Welcome BBQ at the Honglingjin Park Campus. The afternoon was filled with many happy faces who enjoyed the entertainment provided by our students and a lively band.
Our Commitment to Providing Safe Air Quality
We are approaching the end of the summer and the dreaded smoggy Beijing days are upon us. At Yew Chung International School of Beijing, we are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff and one of the main ways in which we provide high air quality standards is by ensuring that all our indoor facilities are installed with air purification systems. This is in addition to air tight and double glazed doors and windows manufactured by German manufacturer Hormann. Air curtains by Panasonic are also installed at all external doors as a safety measure.
Lights, Camera, Elf!
In line with the School’s holistic approach to education, the Arts are a very important aspect of Yew Chung International School of Beijing’s life. And, when the word that the auditions were open for one of the most popular holiday films, Elf Jr., started going around through word of mouth, posters and formal announcements, the schools buzzed with excitement and eagerness.
Introducing the Co-Teaching Model in Secondary
Raising globally competent leaders is an integral part of our Mission at Yew Chung International School of Beijing. Our Co-Teaching Model, unique to our school, supports our goal to create an environment that exposes children to the concept of multiculturalism and bilingualism from as early as the Early Childhood Education (ECE) through Primary School years. Based on the positive results this has yielded in our earlier years, the Co-Teaching Model will now be gradually introduced to our Secondary School.
Building Confidence in our Chinese Language Speakers
Among several tailored offerings students can benefit from at Yew Chung International School of Beijing, our pioneering Bilingual Programme is the top reason why many still choose to enroll their children. With 17 years working experience at our campus, April Peng, Primary School Chinese Vice-Principal who was at the time a Chinese Language Teacher, and subsequently became the Chinese Coordinator, has the expertise to tell us more about the essence of Chinese Language Learning and how the evolution of the school over the years has positively impacted YCIS Beijing students’ learning.
From one generation to the next: Mastering Kung Fu
Character formation is an integral part of learning and development at Yew Chung International School of Beijing, and Xie’s Martial Arts (XMA少侠派), taught by Master Xie , a 32nd generation disciple of Shaolin Temple who started practicing Kung Fu when he was only five years old, also lives by this principle.
The Ferguson Family: The Active Bunch
Our community is expanding! Hailing from the United Kingdom, Hannah, David, Rocky and Max are the new additions to the Yew Chung International School of Beijing community. The Capital has been perfect for the family to fully experience the old and new characteristics of the city, the bustling energy and the food of course.
Discover YCIS Beijing’s Unique Primary Programme
