Our 9th Annual Global Community Day in Photos

On May 13, the greater Beijing expat family community gathered together at the Yew Chung International School of Beijing campus to celebrate the school’s 9th annual Global Community Day! The fun-filled event hosted over 2500 attendees throughout the beautiful spring day and raised a remarkable amount of money for the Seeds of Hope charity organisation through its efforts, a stunning 95,650 RMB!

Like Global Community Day celebrations in the past, families and staff were treated to a wide variety of food, drink, games, and activities. Over 50 booths filled the campus grounds with local delicacies from all over the world, including Japan, Korea, India, Germany, North America, and China. For younger kids, an abundance of games were available; the fan favorite was undoubtedly the sponge throwing booth, giving our students the chance to line up and hurl soaked sponges at their teachers and even the Co-principals!

A highlight of the morning was the 2nd annual YCIS Beijing Fun(d) Run, 2.5 km and 5 km races around the campus’s adjacent newly-renovated Honglingjin Park. Separate prizes and category winners were delegated according to age and gender, with each winner receiving a 1500 RMB voucher to Temple Restaurant Beijing. Congratulations to all our winners!

No matter the time, attendees were treated to great musical performances by our talented students and staff. Our Secondary orchestra and ensembles provided moving classical pieces while the jazz band and Chroma, a student band comprised entirely of YCIS Beijing students, rocked the stage with classic covers and hits. Our young Primary School violinists serenaded attendees with the pieces they’ve learned through the school’s violin programme, and a pair of teachers on guitar and vocals performed a set of classic rock tunes. The Parents’ Organization returned to the stage again this year with a fresh set of dance choreography. A set of Secondary School students also performed a fresh K-Pop routine that had audiences on their feet. Well done to all the performers!

This amazing event would not have been possible without the tireless combined efforts of our Community Relations Officer Sophia Liu and all the administrative departments, teachers, and staff, plus all of our wonderful sponsors and vendors. Thank you all for making the day such an overwhelming success!
