A Lunch Cooked with Love
The annual Teacher Appreciation Lunch has become a popular tradition at Yew Chung International School of Beijing. Each year, a few weeks before the end of term, the YCIS Beijing Parent Organisation puts on an outstanding feast for our teachers and staff in recognition of their hard work during the year. All parents are invited to make a culinary contribution to the meal which is attended by staff throughout the school.
The families at YCIS Beijing represent every corner of the globe, and the Teacher Appreciation Lunch is always a brilliant way to enjoy this multicultural community. Indian, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, American, European and Russian all made an appearance at this year’s feast, which took place last Friday on the school campus. Parent volunteers kindly assisted at the lunch, serving our staff and giving thanks in person.
Prior to the lunch, our students were asked to design their own posters showing their gratitude towards their teachers. Photographs of the students holding their work were pinned up around the room and played on a screen. It was a delightful personal touch that allowed not just parents to show their thanks, but students too.

“The Teacher Appreciation Lunch is the best possible international buffet – with dishes not only being exceptionally delicious, but very lovingly homemade. It is always a pleasure to be involved in its organisation, especially when we receive such positive feedback from YCIS Beijing staff who see this day as a special highlight of the school calendar.”
A heartfelt thanks goes to all those involved with the lunch this year – both to families who contributed food, and parents who helped organise the event. The staff at YCIS Beijing are always touched by the effort and attention that goes into this special event, and it is a fitting way to end the school year.
