Artist-in-Residence–Dr. Yu Yeung

On May 11, parents of the YCIS Beijing students were treated to an informative and educational speech by Dr. Yu Yeung, Head of Instrumental Studies and Artist-in-Residence at YCIS Hong Kong. Having studied at universities in Beijing, Hong Kong, Texas and Cincinnati, Dr. Yu has performed across the globe including the USA and Japan and has also been a soloist with both the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra in China and the Ohio Metropolitan Orchestra in the USA.

Students Celebrate Launch of Second YCIS Beijing in Yizhuang

May 9, 2012

A stone-laying ceremony for the BP International Education Park (IEP) was celebrated on May 9, 2012 in Yizhuang, Beijing.  IEP is a pioneering model in mainland China that will have the Yew Chung International School (YCIS) for foreign students and Yew Wah International Education School for local Chinese students. Both schools will be connected by the Scholars International Conference Centre that will promote cross-cultural learning and invite the greater Beijing community to hold seminars and events.

Primary Yearbook Design Winners Announced

May 4, 2012

During the Primary assembly on the morning of May 4, the winners of the yearbook design competition were rewarded for their hard work with certificates and prizes. The winning entry was created by Maggie Youn of Year 6. The piece displayed a diverse group of nations working together within a natural environment, highlighting the important theme of global education. Maggie was handed a selection of gifts for her exceptional effort but her real reward is that at such a young age, she is now already a published illustrator of a book.

YCIS Beijing Football Teams Shine in ACAMIS Shekou

April 30, 2012

What began as a wet trip finished with the YCIS Beijing Boys Football team being awarded the first place trophy in the Under 19 ACAMIS Shekou Football Tournament after a sublime team effort that earned them a perfect record in the boys’ competition. The YCIS Beijing Girls Football team achieved a very respectable third place finish, also earning a trophy for a performance full of grit and determination.
