Message From Our Senior Leadership Team

Welcome to Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS Beijing).

The Yew Chung Education Foundation is based in Hong Kong and is governed by an Executive Board operating under the leadership of our Director, Dr Betty Chan.

A common Mission and Vision Statement, along with a Foundation-wide Strategic Plan, guides all areas of activity and establishes the key direction, core values, and overarching policies covering the many areas of Foundation activity. This includes a growing number of YCIS and YWIES schools, and programmes throughout China and in other countries, including the UK and the US.

Each school, while operating under the auspice of the Executive Board, is encouraged to develop its own unique character, learning programmes, facilities and personnel, and to respond to the local needs of its community, in keeping with the Foundation’s Mission and Vision. The responsibility for the management of the school rests with a Senior Leadership Team which is itself directly accountable to the Executive Board. In the case of YCIS Beijing, the Senior Leadership Team consists of The Chinese and Western Co-Principals, and the Business Manager.

While the Co-Principals’ primary focus is on the learning programmes, student welfare and the leadership of the academic staff, and the Business Manager exercises oversight of non-academic areas; all three function as a unified team with overall responsibility for all areas of school operation.

YCIS Beijing is registered with the Ministry of Education as a School for Children of Foreign Nationals. It is accredited by the Council of International Schools, The New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the International Baccalaureate Organisation, and is an authorised provider of the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education. We are also accredited by the local education authorities.
